The Rural Arts Inclusion Lab is a project created to address the lack of representation of marginalized voices in arts organizations, audiences and performers in rural British Columbia.
Gathering as many perspectives as possible, we will be modelling a Social Innovation Lab and will be using this website to document our process so that any rural arts organization can follow along. It is our hope that by sharing our process and information we can have relevance beyond our specific geographic region.
We want to hear about your experiences.
The first phase of this project is about listening. We recognize that there are many perspectives in our community and we want to hear as many voices as possible. Whether you would like to be involved, have questions, or have strong feelings that need to be heard. Please contact us !
This three year place- based project is a partnership between the Nelson Civic Theatre Foundation and the Tiny Lights Festival and is supported by a systems change grant from the Vancouver Foundation.
This project is centred in the West Kootenays. We acknowledge our respect for, and deep gratitude to, the First Nations on whose traditional territories we are honoured to operate. This land is the traditional unceded territory of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, and Okanagan Nations, and is home to the Métis and many diverse Indigenous persons.
